Criteria for equipment, facilities, and services listings
The eligibility criteria for equipment, facilities, and services listings for Category 3 of the MWC Flexible Research Programme
Investigators can apply for support to access facilities and equipment across all MWC sites in New Zealand through Category 3 of the MWC Flexible Research Programme. Category 3 covers any user charges attracted by these facilities or equipment, as well as travel and accommodation necessary to enable MWC investigators (including Affiliates) to work in facilities away from their host institution as listed in the members section of the MWC website.
Investigators can also apply for support to use international facilities in the areas of genomic technologies, transgenesis, drug/compound screening, digital spatial profiling, and glycomic array screening where these services are either not currently available in New Zealand and/or where a compelling justification can be made for accessing the services from an international facility.
Criteria for facilities, equipment and services to be eligible for this scheme:
New Zealand based facilities, equipment or services should;
- Be located at and run by a New Zealand based university, CRI, private research institution, or a New Zealand based organisation/company that provides research services to MWC investigators
- Be submitted to the list of equipment and facilities in the members-only section* on the MWC website and approved by the MWC Management Committee. To allow adequate time for approval of facilities and equipment all listings should be submitted at least one week prior to the closing date for applications for any given round.
International facilities should;

Be an international facility providing services in genomic technologies, transgenesis, drug/compound screening, digital spatial profiling, and glycomic array screening that are either not available in New Zealand and/or where a compelling justification can be made for accessing the services from an international facility.

Be a recognised supplier with whom New Zealand investigators have had previous experience and have a track record of delivering excellent service to New Zealand investigators.
International facilities do not need to be registered on the list of equipment and facilities in the members-only section on the MWC website.
All New Zealand based and international facilities, equipment, or services should;
- Be available for all MWC investigators to access
- Be able to quantify all resources required to deliver a service or product and provide an accurate quotation for the cost of these resources
- Be able to offer and agree a timeline for the delivery of the service or product
- Have a financial system for collection of revenue that adheres to the relevant policies and guidelines of the host institution.
- Be able to provide reasonable assurance as to the technical and maintenance support of the instruments providing the service or product if requested.
Costing of facility/equipment/service:
- The full cost of the facility, service or equipment should be quoted including personnel costs where required
- Costing should be based on a non-profit cost-recovery model or academic costing for providers such as NZGL
- If you wish to register a New Zealand based facility, service or an item of equipment with the MWC and a user charge system is not currently in place for this please consult with your local institution about the best way to set this up
