The 2021 MWC Research Symposium, Future Science Day and Research Theme planning meetings will be held at the University of Auckland from 10-12 February.

The annual MWC Symposium will incorporate research theme planning meetings for MWC4 as well as presentations covering research highlights from the past year and exciting future research from both established and early career investigators;
10th February (from 1pm) – Research theme planning meetings (parallel sessions for MWC investigators only)
11th February (all day) – The programme will begin with presentations of research highlights and future research (all themes) and end with the first session of the Future Science Day programme featuring research presentations from MWC early career investigators and a poster session in the evening.
12th February (to 1pm) – Future Science Day, continued focus on early career investigators.
All MWC investigators are welcome to attend all sessions.
Please register asap to signal your intention to attend and enable the MWC Admin team to get started on logistics.
Future Science Day;
There are excellent opportunities for Early Career Researchers to present talks and posters at the Future Science Day:
We are requesting entries from MWC affiliated early career researcher for:
- Research talks – tell us about your research
- TED style presentations – more general talks about what makes your field/research area super interesting.
- Methods-focused talks – Do you have a super-cool technique that others might be interested in using, or you want to show off your technical skills.
- 3-minute research talks
- In-person poster presentations
Deadlines:
23rd January – Abstracts due for talks and posters (Affiliates need to submit an abstract to be eligible for travel assistance) to maurice-wilkins-centre@auckland.ac.nz.
2nd February – Poster PDF pre-submission for the poster competition (this is a new initiative to help the judges get through all the entries). If selected for a research talk, you are also welcome to put together a poster, we will usually accept all other submitted abstracts for a poster unless there is more demand than space.
Instructions and guidelines:
(a) abstracts should be provided using the template provided below
(b) all abstracts from MWC affiliated investigators will be accepted as long as the work described aligns with MWC themes and there is sufficient space
(c) all research abstracts will be considered for an oral presentation, unless indicated otherwise
(d) vertical A0 is the maximum poster size
