Hormones controlling metabolism

Human metabolic disorders are often associated with defects in the production or release of key metabolic hormones.

The Maurice Wilkins Centre has supported a range of projects to better understand these defects, including:

  • The mechanisms controlling the secretion of insulin from the beta-cells.
  • The potential of novel amylin analogues for controlling metabolism.
  • The role of calcitonin gene related peptide and prolactin in regulating energy metabolism.
