MWC refunded in latest CoRE selection round

The Maurice Wilkins Centre has been selected as one of ten Centres of Research Excellence (CoREs) that will receive CoRE funding from 2021 to 2028.
The Maurice Wilkins Centre is thrilled with the Tertiary Education Commission's (TEC) announcement on Friday 9 October 2020 that its refunding bid has been successful.
It is recognition of the collective efforts of our 500-plus scientific community and stakeholders to develop national collaborative approaches to tackle Metabolic Diseases, Cancer and Infectious Diseases, including COVID19. This ensures the most efficient use of New Zealand’s research resources and allows us to tackle emerging health threats like coronavirus at scale and with international impact.
A major feature of our new bid will be a focus on issues of particular relevance to Aotearoa/New Zealand, especially those of relevance to Māori and Pacific peoples.
