2nd Nucleic Acid Chemical Biology Symposium

Do you work in the field of chemical or molecular biology? Medicinal chemistry? Are you interested in interactions of proteins/enzymes with nucleic acids or their components? Curious about canonical and non-canonical DNA structures and their influence on genome biology? Do you do research on mRNA vaccines or the delivery of DNA/RNA-therapeutics? Have knowledge and interests in other aspects of DNA and RNA chemistry and biology? Join us for a one-day Nucleic Acid Chemical Biology Symposium.

Start Date June 5th 2024

End DateJune 5th 2024

time10:15 AM - 5:00 PM

venueMarsden lecture theatre, Massey University, Palmerston North

Our International Speakers are:

Prof. Katherine Seley-Radtke

University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), USA

Current President of International Society for Antiviral Research

Prof. Seley-Radtke specialises in the discovery and design of novel nucleoside or nucleotide-based enzyme inhibitors that may be used to treat infections or cancer. She has authored over 90 peer-reviewed publications, is an inventor of five issued US patents, and is a professor in the department of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Her international impact includes scientific collaborations, policy advising and diplomatic appointments in biosecurity efforts.

Assoc. Prof. Rakesh Veedu

(Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science; & Centre for Molecular Medicine and Innovative Therapeutics, Murdoch University, Perth, Australia) is head of the Precision Nucleic Acid Therapeutics Laboratory and founder of SynGenis Ltd, custom oligonucleotide synthesis company.

Research interests: Oligonucleotide synthesis chemistries and nucleic acid-based biotechnologies as potential drug therapies for a range of neurological diseases, cancers, genetic disorders and rare diseases.

Please register here (registration is free) for catering and organisation purposes until 20th May 2024. Please indicate if you wish to give an oral presentation by 30th April 2024 and provide a title of it. Organisation committee will be in contact for the talks selected.
